Kids’ stuff, from YouTube UK
It’s been out in the US for a while but now the UK has its own localised version of the YouTube “Kids” app.
Essentially an easier, simpler and child-friendly way to find videos aimed at youngsters, the app boasts (apparently) a “bright and playful design” to encourage your child to oggle the ipad a little longer; “family focused content” so no smut or swearing; and parental controls so you can choose what your little monkeys get to see.
Those controls include specific search settings, a timer to stop their little eyes going square (or rectangular these days, we suppose), sound settings (you can turn background music and sound effects off, phew), passwords – and no login so you don’t have to have an account.
It’s Chromecastable onto your telly and also works with Apple TV, games consoles and so-called “smart” TVs.
You can download the app on Google Play or the iOS App Store.
