Sony ups the ante at cards

Sony’s announced new XQD and SD cards plus card readers including an XQD USB adapter.

The XQD-M series offers data transfer speeds of up to 440MB/s (read) and 150MB/s (write) whilst the SDXC cards, branded SF-M, are UHS-II with speeds up to 260MB/s (read) and 100MB/s (write).

Both are said to be dust-proof, X-ray proof, anti-static and magnet proof.

The XQD/SD card reader is model MRW-E90, providing data transfer to a PC from all XQD and UHS-II SD cards. It is compatible with “Superspeed USB” (USB3.1 Gen 1).

The XQD-only reader is badged QDA-SB1 and works with M and G Series XQD cards and comes with an extension USB cable.
