All change at YouTube
YouTube has a new boss; Susan Wojcicki was Google’s 16th employee and it was her garage that the company’s founders hired when they started up the search giant. With her previous role being in developing Google’s advertising business, shareholders and YouTube video creators alike will be hoping she can sprinkle some magic to make everyone some more cash from their videos.
Meanwhile, the site has also announced it’s going to take a more aggressive approach to checking on fraudulent video views – those that are ratcheted up by companies paid to increase a video’s apparent popularity. Instead of merely auditing views when they reach the infamous 301 count, YouTube will now audit counts randomly after that as well.
The move should spell more accurate figures for creators and advertisers, perhaps tying in with the new boss’s plans for the site.
