How do you fancy grabbing a share of $70,000 USD worth of fabulous filming gear? Of course you do. Thanks then to Australia’s Rode Microphones who’ve launched a short film competition, promising exactly that.

It’s labelled “My Rode Reel”, runs from March 1st this year to the end of May and is open to film-makers from all over the world.

Entrants’ films must last no more than five minutes and a behind-the-scenes reel must also be shot that features a Rode microphone being used during the production.

Three main prizes are on offer: a judge’s prize for the best short, one for the best behind-the-scenes reel, and there’s a publicly-voted prize for the best short film as well. Additional category prizes are available for Best Sound Design, Best Soundtrack and more.

Kerching, kerching! The prize pool includes BlackMagic and GoPro cameras, Carl Zeiss lenses, Miller tripods, RedRock Micro rigs, SmallHD and Teradek monitoring equipment, Kessler sliders and jibs, ThinkTank Photo bags, Event studio monitors, G-Technology storage, TetherTools accessories, software from Adobe and RedGiant, licensing credit from The Music Bed, and, of course, Rode microphones!

As a bonus, all entries accepted during March will receive a free copy of RedGiant’s PluralEyes audio synchronisation software, valued at $199 USD.
