Beta update for PluralEyes

If you’re one of those people who shoot audio separately to video (for example, filming video on a DSLR and capturing sound on a separate audio recorder) then some news from Red Giant software may be of interest.

They’ve released a new Beta-test version of their PluralEyes software which is used to synchronise audio with video during an edit and they want your help to test it and iron out any bugs.

The company says the new release now supports AVCHD on Windows – about time, we’d have thought – as well as spanned clips; there’s a longer list of supported media types for replacement audio; “lots” (how vague!) of improvements to the underlying code to make synchronisation faster and more accurate; and, helpfully, automatic correction for any drift between audio and video over time which can happen when the clocks in each recording device are slightly different.

As regards installing, the beta software will run without a serial number and eventually time out- so no, you aren’t actually going to get a full version for free. Duh. They say you can have previous versions of PluralEyes installed and running on your machine alongside the PluralEyes 3.5 Beta. There’s a special extension for Adobe Premiere Pro users to zap your timeline into PluralEyes.

Once you’ve got the Beta running, feedback on it (assuming it hasn’t actually crashed, presumably) can be sent from within the program too.
