New pro audio rig for mobile phones
Audio/video phone accessory manufacturer IK Multimedia has announced a new combined grip and audio interface with a balanced XLR input.
The iKlip A/V is said to offer a mic preamp with phantom power and a place to slot in common wireless receivers. Having also a right-angled substantial grip to mount the phone on, it’s claimed to provide steady support for mobile broadcasting.

The output is on an unbalanced but short 3.5mm TRRS connector to go into the usual headphone socket on a mobile device. It needs two AA cells to provide the 48V phantom power. A gain control and headphone monitoring are also included.
The device can hold any iPhone, iPod touch or Android device with a screen size from 3.5″ to 6″, and can itself be attached to a monopod or tripod via standard-sized threads on the underside.
It’ll be on sale from April 2016 at a recommended price of $/€179.99 (excluding taxes). More info at www.iklipav.com
