Tascam updates DSLR audio recorder
There’s a new version of Tascam’s audio recorder for DSLR video. The DR-60D MkII builds on the original, award-winning, release but has upgraded pre-amps.
If you’re not familiar with it, the DR-60 is a compact audio recorder with balanced XLR inputs that’s designed to sit underneath your DSLR. While the camera records the video, the DR-60 records high quality audio, much more so than the camera could achieve. A feed from the DR60 is recorded by the DSLR and in that way the good soundtrack can be synchronised with the rubbish DSLR one during editing (and hence replace it).
Up to four channels can be recorded simultaneously in fact, two from the XLRs and two from unbalanced minijack inputs. All get stored at up to 96kH z/ 24-bit resolution.
There are loads of useful features so if you’re a DSLR film-maker, head on over to http://tascam.com/product/dr-60dmkii/overview/ to read the spec. Oh, and they made a video about it too:
